The Donatus shrine, first erected in 1787 at the corner of Metternicher Straße and Alter Heerweg, featuring a bust of St. Donatus, was destroyed twice by traffic accidents, in 1983 and 2016. The inscription on the shrine, rebuilt in 2018, reads: "From lightning and storms, through the intercession of St. Donatus, preserve us, O Lord." Thus, St. Donatus is the second patron saint, alongside St. Mark, to have very successfully protected Rösberg from the vagaries of the weather.
