Beatty’s Trail climbs toward the Santa Barbara Divide, gaining elevation quickly along a narrow, gravel-packed slope. While short, this stretch demands sure footing and trekking poles come in handy—both for balance and for pausing to take in the sweeping mountain views that open up along the way. Tree cover offers some shade, but the trail is best enjoyed in clear weather, when the ridgeline and valleys below unfold in full.
