Gangteng Monastery (Dzongkha: སྒང་སྟེང་དགོན་པ), also known as Gangtey Gonpa or Gangtey Monastery, is a Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism and the headquarters of the Pema Lingpa tradition. It is located in the Wangdue Phodrang district of central Bhutan. The monastery, also known by the name of the surrounding village of Gangtey, lies in the Phobjikha Valley, a wintering ground frequented by black-necked cranes. The cranes circle the monastery three times upon arrival and repeat this behavior on their return to Tibet.
