Bike Touring Highlight
Great view of the Baltic Sea, the ships and the old town. There is a possibility to stay overnight on one of the residential ships nearby. Lots of culinary delights.

There's a lot going on here for the "Hansesail", which takes place every year in the 2nd week of August. Since 1991 sailing ships of all sizes, as well as vintage steamers and motor ships, have been meeting at the major maritime event. However, the tall ships are in Warnemünde. Those with a draft that is too great for the city port are located in the fishing port. If you want, you can book a ride on the ships; you should do so in good time for the particularly popular ones. A special highlight is the Parade of Nations on the final day of the Sail. hansesail.com
Outside of the Hansesail there are unfortunately only a few larger ships in the city harbor. If you want to visit the traditional ship type "Frieden" (ex Dresden) as part of the Rostock Shipbuilding and Maritime Museum you have to go to the IGA-Park (International Horticultural Exhibition 2003) in the Rostock district of Schmarl. schifffahrtsmuseum-rostock.de
For years, efforts have been made to make the traditional ship more accessible for tourists by relocating it to the city harbor.

In the city harbor there are many opportunities to stop off from the silos to the Kaputzenhof. There is something for every taste.
The theater in the city harbor, the Compagnie de Comédie (stage 602), the "Mau" or the museum harbor also don't neglect culture.

The area of the city port was freed from port facilities from 1991 and gradually converted into a shopping mile with restaurants, clubs, theater venues and retail, also in the area of marine equipment. The infrastructure has been extensively renewed. Witnesses to the transhipment technology of the past are two portal cranes from the 1960s and a bridge crane from the 1950s on the Haedge peninsula. A wooden pedal crane is a scale 1: 2 replica of an 18th-century harbor crane. In Haedgehafen are some small, still ready to drive museum ships.
