The Krossobanen is a cable car from Rjukan to Hardangervidda. You need a head for heights as the rickety carriages take you up the steep hillside. Constructed in 1928, the Krossobanen was the first cable car constructed in Northern Europe.

The cable car is the oldest cable car in Northern Europe. The railway was built in 1928 by Adolf Bleichert & Co. from Leipzig-Gohlis and was a gift from the Norsk Hydro company to the residents of Rjukans.
