The Himmelsberg chapel above Altenheerse was built in 1948 by two residents of the village with the support of the other villagers. There had been plans to build a chapel here for over 200 years. However, these failed repeatedly for various reasons.

From the chapel you have a wide view of the surroundings. The villages of Dringenberg and, of course, Altenheerse are very close, so that you have a beautiful view of them. The little effort of the visit is definitely worth it! The best way to climb the chapel is via the paved path north. You can easily go down the grass path to the southwest.
