Located just south of Decorah, Iowa, the Chuck Gibb Decorah Fish Hatchery draws its water from Siewers Spring, Iowa’s second-largest natural spring. The hatchery was established in the 1920s and developed further in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
The hatchery has 24 cement raceways and three rubber-lined ponds that provide a healthy, flowing environment for Rainbow Trout. Each year, about 130,000 catchable-size rainbow trout are raised and stocked in Northeast Iowa streams and community fisheries.
The hatchery is open daily for visitors to observe and feed fish.
