Located in Decorah's Trout Run Park, the historic Freeport Bridge stands as a landmark and a testament to 19th-century engineering. This Bowstring Through Truss iron bridge, originally built in 1878 by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company of Canton, Ohio, is among the largest of its kind in Iowa. Once spanning the Upper Iowa River, in Freeport, the bridge was relocated to Trout Run Park on Decorah's east edge, where it now serves as a pedestrian-only crossing along the scenic 11-mile Trout Run Trail.
