In my opinion, you have the most beautiful view of Harburg when you come down the street from Ebermergen.

The castle, first mentioned in 1093, belonged to the imperial estate together with the settlement in the Staufer period. The town received market rights as early as 1250, but was pledged to the county of Oettingen the following year (still without the castle). In 1407 the town finally came into the possession of the Oettinger family. From 1591, according to data from the Society for Leprosy, a medieval leprosarium can be found in Harburg. The building was later used as a poor and hospital, in 1903 it was closed.

The city of Harburg only became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806 as a result of mediatisation. Until then, for a long time it belonged to the Protestant line Oettingen-Oettingen of the principality of Oettingen and therefore has a Protestant majority to this day.

A fun fairy tale trail leads around the Interesting Castle.

It also offers a magnificent view over Harburg.

        Guided tours can be attended.

There is also a cafe in the inner courtyard.
