This trail is a challenging route through dense forest, gaining over 1,300 m in the first 6 km before reaching the lower lake, and can be a good turnaround point with campsites and outstanding views. From there, the trail climbs steadily toward Upper Pierce Lake, a picturesque, quiet basin tucked beneath Mount MacFarlane, with the summit route branching off just beyond.
