    Tips

    August 26, 2017

The Green Belt bike path leads past a fun plateau, the "I Monument". Take a stand, let yourself be photographed and have a monument set for eternity.

A little tip: Ideally, you make a stop there very early in the morning or evening, as the position of the sun during the day provides for not so ideal lighting conditions in the photo. Or when it is cloudy.

The monument consists of a stone pedestal, as it usually has monuments of famous persons of contemporary history, on which however no statue stands. On the front is "I" in capital letters, on the back of a three -step staircase allows climbing the base.

The I-monument embodies the prime example of the classic monument type: a sandstone pedestal with a golden inscription. The missing figure for the "I" is easily placed: on the back, the base can be climbed via a staircase. The draft came from the draftsman and children's book author Hans Traxler, the implementation by the sculptor and stonemason Reiner Uhl. Traxler explains his idea on the display board next to the monument:
        "Every human is unique.
Of course, this also applies to all animals.
        Hold onto that forever. Here."
So every walker, every passer-by can climb up, rise above the rest of the world and become a celebrity, at least for a moment! The accompanying board shows that Traxler is also anticipating a dog as a potential user - and in fact, the I-monument is used in large numbers by mistresses and masters who capture their darlings here in photographs.
