Running along the western edge of Lake Okeechobee near Clewiston and Moore Haven, the Rim Canal follows calm waters bordered by marsh and farmland. Hikers trace the top of the dike with sweeping lake views and abundant birdlife, from egrets to osprey. It’s not uncommon to spot an alligator basking along the banks, adding a touch of wild Florida to the journey.
