Hiking
It was the landowner and member of the Riksdag, Alfred Bexell (1831–1900), who commissioned two stonemasons to install these inscriptions around his estate in Torstorp at the end of the 19th century. The background to this solid work is unknown, but one theory is that he simply wanted to pass on his philosophy of life to future generations. Another theory is that he feared the Swedish language might die out.
