The Big Woods Regional Trail is a paved, off-road, multi-use path that spans eighteen miles, beginning at the Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail on the north side of the Minnesota River and extending southeast to the Eagle Creek Trail. Along its route, the trail connects to Spring Lake Regional Park, Lakefront Park in Prior Lake, Cleary Lake Regional Park, Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, and Ritter Farm Park. The Shakopee Trailhead also offers access to the Minnesota Valley State Trail, which runs east and west along the southern bank of the Minnesota River.
