The stone church was built in the second half of the 13th century. The rectangular church tower in the west of the nave was not built in field stones, but was completed in 1601 with a slate-covered square roof tower on which an eight-sided bent helmet sits. The sacristy in the northeast of the choir, which is not separated from the nave, is part of the original building structure. The extension on the south side was built for a portal.

The church of Teschendorf is located in the original village center - the Hagen. It served both ecclesiastical purposes and to protect the villagers from robber barons. The early Gothic hall church made of fieldstone with a wide west tower dates from the 13th century. The tower was only added later in 1601.
