The Mühlenaue is the original creek running through Lauenau. The former water mill in Lauenau, Im Mühlenwinkel 4 ➜ used the water power of the Mühlenaue. For this purpose, a weir was built on the upper course, today's water cross, to regulate the water. The waters of the Aue and the Pohler or Meinser Bach meet at the water cross at the sports park. The floodplain divides there into the Mühlenaue and the Rodenberger Aue, which leads past Lauenau as a diversion. Behind Lübbersen both flow together again.
