On the Elbe beach you can not only enjoy sunbathing and then relax, but also take part in various leisure activities. Locals, as well as many holidaymakers, use the kilometer-long beach on the Elbe in summer and winter to go for a walk and to watch the huge container ships in the harbor. Sports enthusiasts can be seen jogging or walking here. Barbecues are also permitted in certain places on the Elbe beach. However, this requires that you make sure that no rubbish is left behind after the barbecue. But you can also enjoy a picnic with friends on the Elbe beach in Hamburg. There are a few hotels near the Elbe beach. It is also possible to camp near the beach.

A special attraction is located directly on the Elbe beach. There is the boulder "The Old Swede". This stone was found in 1999 during dredging work on the Elbe. The large boulder weighs 217 tons.

There is a lot to see on the approach to the Elbe beach in Hamburg. At the Neumühlen pier you will find the museum harbor with its impressive historical ships. The information boards provide visitors with information about the individual ships and the history of the small harbor. In the immediate vicinity you will find many charming cafes, restaurants and in summer also a beach club. At almost all of the cafes you can sit outside in the sun. One well-known example is the trendy Strandperle cafe, which is located right on the beach. The beautiful Elbe beach begins almost immediately next to the museum harbor.

On sunny days, a trip from Teufelsbrück to Övelgönne is simply good form for many Hamburgers - especially on a Sunday. But even in winter it is not deserted here: There are numerous restaurants on the banks of the Elbe, with a variety of offerings - from terraces to beach bars. In Övelgönne you can stroll past a few small houses and beautiful gardens that are picturesquely situated on the Elbe side. One of them is the Old Pilot's House: the Pilot Brotherhood was founded there in 1745 and a few years later it became a public inn, which was last renovated just a few years ago. The fantastic view of the Elbe beach and harbor has of course remained.
The bike has to be pushed on this particularly beautiful section of the route. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile and therefore also a cycling highlight. You can continue on afterwards.
