The PNT 2 circular hike starts at the Teide National Park Visitor Center (El Portillo), is about 8 km long, has a 60% gradient in some sections, and a cumulative ascent of 328 m. I started the circular hike in the caldera (most people do it the other way). After about 2 km, the ascent begins over black volcanic ash. Every time you turn around, you get a different perspective of Teide and the caldera. Even though the hike leads through the impressive landscapes of the Arenas Negras up to approximately 2,300 m, the absolute highlight is the constantly changing views of Teide – you can't get enough of them – be sure to take the time to enjoy them. Only the ascent to the summit of Teide (3,718 m) can top this (ATTENTION: Permit required --> see the "Tenerife ON" app).

So, hiking enthusiasts, put on sturdy-soled shoes with good tread, wear a hat or something similar (there's no shade!), and head out into the wonderful nature of Teide National Park.
