Cycling

The Bridge over the North was opened in 1939 and connects the banks of the river Noord between Alblasserdam and Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. The function as a traffic bridge has been taken over by the adjacent tunnel that opened in 1992. At the entrance of the bicycle path below to the bridge, a staircase is provided with an automatic conveyor belt to push the bicycle upwards.

Road cycling

Just ride a short stretch along a bike path. Then you don't have to go down those stairs. Very unsafe for the less experienced, older cyclist with a very heavy e-bike.
