The Nonnenfelsen is a must for every visitor to the Zittau Mountains. Not only because of its special form (the nuns) and the view of Jonsdorf in the restaurant you will be served friendly and the food and beer taste.

The nun rock with its viewpoints is always worth a visit. This coming weekend (12./13.10.2019) should be best autumn weather ... so also good visibility. Also, the ascent can also be combined with a visit to the excursion restaurant "Gondelfahrt", where on the weekend traditional fishing including fresh and smoked fish sales takes place. Of course you can eat it right there. Delicious!

The Nonnenfelsen are a rock formation on the southeastern slope of the Buchberg in the Zittau Mountains in Saxony. They are 537 meters high, towering around 100 meters above the valley of the Pochebach and are located south-west of the spa town of Jonsdorf.

The nun's rock is quite easy to climb, at least to the inn from there it goes up stairs on, but the view is worth it! In the restaurant one can also pick up a stamp for the Zittau mountain pass. Beautiful rock formations, unfortunately there are currently many rutted paths around. Since there is insufficient information about it, one runs some detours or comes home very dirty.

On this tour we climb the Nonnenfelsen from Hohlsteinweg. The path is one of the three approaches to the Nonnenfelsen. The descent to Jonsdorf by the Zigeunerstuben is highly recommended. This tour is easy and interesting.

From here you have a great view of the surrounding rocks, forests, etc.

You can also stop off. But we did not try, so no recommendation, if the food tasted good or not good ...

Another tip, the Nonnenfelsen can also be reached from the Gondelfaht in the direction of the road construction site through the Zigeunerstuben via a beautiful but steadily rising path.
