The statue was a gift from the Catholic parish of St. Laurentius Oberdollendorf to her then pastor Georg Kalckert to the 25th anniversary of the town. It was inaugurated in 2000 with great joy and is still the center of the vineyard and the wine trail. It is a bronze sculpture of the Oberdollendorf sculptor Ernemann Sander, who has a name in Germany.
