Tips
The Schäferstuhl belongs to the southern central part of the Salzgitter ridge, which extends from Salzgitter Bad in the northwest to Liebenburg in the southeast. To the north it offers a view over Salzgitter-Bad, to the south it offers a wonderful view over Goslar, the Harz and the Brocken.
Due to the ridge position and a suitable training facility, the shepherd's chair was bought by the Braunschweig-Waggum airport company in the mid-1930s and used for gliding. Since 1952 the airfield on the Schäferstuhl has been used by the Luftsportgemeinschaft Schäferstuhl e.V. Especially on weekends you can watch gliders and motorized planes as well as model gliders here.
