Former castle grounds of the "Alteburg", destroyed in 1382 and today the area is basically a beautiful castle park. A half-timbered house from 1547, which is privately owned, now stands on the foundations of the old castle.

The Alteburgpark - A piece of nature in the middle of the city
The Alteburgpark in Schotten is an important open space on the edge of the historic old town. The creation of urban planning links to the old and inner city and the improvement of access options have meant that the park fits seamlessly into the pedestrian and cycle path system of the entire city.
An adventure space was created for residents and tourists, which offers attractive attractions with a playground, stage, boules court, watercourse, fountain, moat, large meadow, old trees and, last but not least, the somewhat hidden Nidda waterfall. Nevertheless, the park meets the “classic” requirements of a park: walking, sitting, watching and resting play an important role.nachhafte-stadtentwicklung-hessen.de/gute-beispiele/freiraum-und-stadtklima/schotten-alteburgpark-akb.html
