The Italian Garden itself, with its stone pavilion above the coast, but above all the rich flowering borders, is in fact like the gardens that are typical of the Mediterranean climate. And yet it took some effort to realize such a garden here.

Arinish Island is a horticultural idyll unique to Ireland. For decades, the Bryce family have created a paradise here with the help of landscape gardeners such as award-winning Scotsman Murdo MacKenzie. Even the earth cover was brought in over years of detailed work and the area was gradually overgrown. The builders had the plants brought in from all over the world. The project was and is favored by the mildest weather conditions that can be found on the Emerald Isle - Gulf Stream, relatively far to the south. In fact, in the area around the Italian garden house, you feel like you are in Italy.

From the port of Glengarriff it takes only about 10 minutes to take one of the several ferries. With a bit of luck, a few specimens of Ireland's largest seal colony will show up. In principle, 30-45 minutes are enough to walk across the small island (only about 15 football pitches). But you are welcome to take more time and let the impressions set. Photography enthusiasts could easily spend several hours here - there are plenty of motifs here.
