Terävä-Nattanen is the highest peak in the Nattaset hills at 544 metres, even though less frequently visited than the more popular Pyhä-Nattanen peak.
The trail begins at the parking area on the shore of Sompiojärvi. The round-trip is about 17 kilometres long. Most of the route follows the Ruijanpolku trail towards Saariselkä, crossing relatively flat terrain. The final section leaves the Ruijanpolku and climbs more steeply over rocky ground to the summit.
The route lies within the Sompio Strict Nature Reserve, where visitors must stay on marked trails at all times.
