In St. Gallen, you will inevitably encounter the venerable Abbey District, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can visit many of the former monastery buildings – including the Abbey Library, built in 1758. Even if you have no interest in the books and historical documents exhibited there, the library is definitely worth a visit. It is one of the most beautiful in the world.
