The Krumme Tor is part of the outer wall ring of the defense system on the cathedral hill, which was built in high medieval times and consists of a gate tower and gate system (demolished in 1822 and rebuilt in 1888). The gate tower was expanded in 2006 for the purpose of private residential use.
