This bridge was put into operation for the Reichsbahn in 1940 north of Schkopau. It has been designed so that it can be used in parallel by the train and pedestrian traffic, as it is now also a popular transition for cyclists and hikers.

The historic half-timbered railway bridge over the Saale is already very difficult to drive on, the screws are sticking out of the wood and the concrete grid slabs would have to be relaid on the descent. Beware of accidents!

The railway bridge near Schkopau forms a small bottleneck on the Saale cycle path. Pedestrians and cyclists have to pass each other to a width of about one meter. It can get tight on sunny days.
