Mountain Biking Highlight
The Aartalsee in the Lahn-Dill-Kreis in the municipality Bischoffen and Hohenahr is the second largest lake area of Hesse and offers something for every recreational athlete: Whether sailing, surfing, fishing, inline skating, hiking or jogging on the approximately 7.5 km long circular walk.
For swimming and relaxation, the bathing area with sandy beach and lawn invites. Various sports and recreational events take place on the grounds in the summer.
The Vorsperre, which is dedicated to nature conservation, is home to numerous species of native animals on the 21 islands, which live here in summer as well as in winter.
Whether on foot or on the bike: Discover the beautiful surroundings of the Aartalsee with its densely wooded valleys and heights on one of the numerous hiking and biking trails, such as the "Wedding Path".
On a total area of 82 hectares, many recreational opportunities. There are lawns for sunbathing and a sandy beach for swimming, a sailing and surfing club and good fishing opportunities.
A developed path for pedestrians, joggers, inline skaters and cyclists leads around the lake.
Six hundred municipal parking spaces are available for visitors. All municipal parking spaces are chargeable.

In the restaurant "Seehof am Aartalsee" you can rest well with a rich selection of regional and international specialties. When the weather is nice you can let yourself be pampered on the summer terrace with a view over the Aartalsee. We also recommend the game specialties from local areas!
Whether rustic or fine, the restaurant also offers the right ambience for every occasion.

Look forward to the 2020 season - from May to September!
Restrictions on the blue line at the start of the season on May 1, 2020
Due to the restrictions in transport, the blue lines on lines 407 (Bad Endbach - Bischoffen - Mittenaar - Herborn), 415 (Wetzlar - Hohenahr - Aartalsee) and 520 (Herborn - Driedorf - Krombachtalsperre - Rennerod) start at the start of the season on May 1st 2020 without a bike trailer. In addition, no group registrations or transport of groups larger than 5 people are possible until further notice.
