Andrej Sládkovič, real name Andrej Braxatoris, was a Slovak Evangelical priest, poet, critic of literary and dramatic works, publicist and translator. The planet (4781) Sládkovič and the gymnasium in Banská Bystrica and Krupina are named after him. In Krupina, a museum, a street and a park are also named after him.
His best-known work is Marína, a poetic composition from 1846, which, with its 291 stanzas, is the longest love poem in the world
