From the Pfyn-Finges nature park, you have an excellent view of the Rhone valley and the Pfyn forest. You also look almost directly at the language border between Upper and Lower Valais. Swiss German is still spoken on the left, while the town signs on the right are increasingly bearing French names. Reason enough to pause here for a moment. Maybe you also indulge in one or two wine tastings. After all, Varen is not exactly unknown for its grape varieties.
