Around 1900, the Kirchner Hut was built on the circular route and the central edge of the Schälwald with a line of sight into the north-eastern Wetterau (Butzbach-Münzenberg). After a fire, the originally five-meter-long rectangular hut was rebuilt and reduced in size to three meters. The old floor plan can still be recognized today thanks to the greywacke boundary. The hut is named after Hugo Kirchner (1865 - 1935), who came from Gedern and was active in the Frakonia Gießen fraternity while studying forestry. From 1898 Kirchner worked as chief forester in Ober Rosbach and from 1900 was a technical assistant at the Bad Nauheim bathing directorate. The reforestation of the forest park into a high forest and the paving of the Wintersteinstrasse are thanks to him. After 1904 Kirchner changed, among other things, to Bad Salzhausen, Büdingen, Dieburg and returned to Bad Nauheim after his retirement in 1929. In 1935, a memorial stone and a sequoia tree were placed in his honor on the ski meadow below the Wilbrand Hut
