This seaside resort hidden in a small valley, despite being devoid of anything resembling a harbour, housed a sailor community. Until the 1970s, the fishermen of Yport used so-called kaïks (beach boats designed to be pulled over boulders). The village has a beautiful architectural unity and a charm that is partly the result of the relatively few tourists.

Yport's old town had to stretch inlands away from the beach, where it is squeezed between tall cliff walls on both sides. Its iconic church with the attractive bands of two-colored stone masonry is this located in the upper more recent section of town.
The church is open all year round. It was built by the Yportais in 1838 in five months. Inside are many models of ships.
