Memoria Mundi on the Düssel River is an impressive sculpture by the French artist couple Anne and Patrick Poirier, located in the Neandertal valley near Düsseldorf. It is part of the "Kunstweg MenschenSpuren" (Art Trail Human Traces), a project that explores the relationship between humans and nature.
The sculpture consists of two symbolic elements:

An oversized human brain, carved from limestone, lies flat on a surface. It represents the cultural memory of humanity—a repository of memories, knowledge, and history. Over time, it becomes overgrown with mosses and lichens, symbolizing forgetting.
