The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary is a historic church located in the village of Ostrowąsy, in the Barwice commune, Szczecinek County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The building is in keeping with the tradition of rural Pomeranian churches and is a valuable example of half-timbered architecture.
History
Built in 1728 by the von Zastrov and von Glasenapp families, although some sources indicate an earlier, 17th-century origin.
It was initially an Evangelical church, taken over by the Catholic Church after World War II.
In 1978, it was damaged by fire, then rebuilt in the 1970s and restored in 1998.
Architecture
The church has a half-timbered (post-and-frame) structure, is oriented, aisleless, and does not have a separate chancel.
It has a single-ridge roof covered with tiles, and the interior has a wooden beamed ceiling. The organ gallery rests on four pillars, and the main altar and pulpit are Baroque from the first half of the 18th century.
The baptismal font and preserved stained glass windows add to the interior's charm.
Next to it stands a wooden, loom-type bell tower, built on the site of an earlier metal structure.
Surroundings
Near the church is a boulder commemorating the victims of World War I.
Nearby, you can see the ruins of a palace from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as the remains of the palace park.
