According to the oldest documents, Hornberg Castle was a Gaugrafenburg and later a knight's castle on a steep 228.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain spur above the Neckar valley above the town of Neckarzimmern between Bad Wimpfen and Mosbach.
The spur castle originally consisted of two independent castle complexes with a common outer bailey, which were later covered by a wall.
Götz von Berlichingen lived at Hornberg Castle for 45 years, which he was enthusiastic about as a teenager.
The castle, which is the second oldest still existing winery in the world according to documents, has traditional wine-growing below the castle on steep terraces. (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Hornberg_(Neckarzimmern))

From the castle you have a great view over the Neckarschleife at Haßmersheim. But you would have to climb up the vineyards. From the Neckar, you have to ascend almost 60 vertical meters. The ramp is worthwhile though. There is no better view at many points of the Neckarradweg.

The castle Horneck was a castle of the Teutonic Order in Gundelsheim am Neckar in the vicinity of the Neckarburgen Ehrenberg, Guttenberg and Hornberg. Together with the castle Guttenberg castle Horneck dominated the so-called German level and the connecting routes between Heilbronn and Heidelberg. Today, the palace complex serves as the home of the Transylvanian Transylvanian Saxons.
