The monument was unveiled on the 75th anniversary of the tragic deaths of Lithuanian pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girenas, who attempted to break the record for the longest flight in 1933. They were flying from New York to Kaunas, Lithuania. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, they crashed near Myślibórz. The monument resembles a hollowed-out stone cut in half. An inscription on the inner edges informs us of the Lithuanians' tragic flight, and within the monument are the names of two cities: New York and Kaunas.
