The Becker & Co. cloth factory was built on Bergstrasse starting in 1907. The modern factory complex was completed in 1908 and marked a turning point in Malchow's industrial development. Previously, the company had operated under simpler conditions, but the construction of its own cloth factory laid the foundation for efficient and competitive production.

The new factory was a symbol of technological progress. Mechanical looms and steam-powered machines enabled the mass production of linen and woolen fabrics, which were sold both regionally and nationally.

For decades, the Becker & Co. cloth factory was one of Malchow's largest employers. Many families owed a reliable income to the company, even though the working conditions were harsh, as was common at the time.
