Tips
A historical themed route connecting Forchheim's city center and the Kellerwald forest. The "WALK OF BEER" was inaugurated in 2018. The name itself contains a piece of history: The Way of Beer! In earlier times, before refrigeration machines existed, beer was brewed in the old town and then brought to the Kellerwald forest for maturation and storage. Forchheim's townscape has been shaped by the brewing industry for centuries. The peak number of breweries was around 1850 – 18! Of these, 16 were private breweries and two were communal breweries. At that time, there were over 30 Forchheim breweries, and Forchheim had a population of around 3,000.
