Lying in the heart of the Coquet Valley, Alwinton is a picturesque village with plenty of green spaces and a bubbling stream. The village earns its name from the River Alwin which runs nearby.
Although there are no shops in Alwinton, there is a lively village pub – the Rose and Thistle Inn – which serves as the social centre of the community.

Very scenic place to stop for a picnic. There is also the Rose and Thistle pub which is surprisingly large once entered. The village green has a bubbling stream alongside and a few picnic tables. Worthwhile making a short detour from NCN 68 to visit the village.
