Get of the gravel road. Most of the gates are open! In the valley we had to crouch under the cattle fence. Take the last jeep at 5pm for the really stuffed in feeling.

Nice walk. Easy, it's a highway. You can't get lost. 2 tolls 20,000+8,000. To see the hummingbirds, it's 20,000 more.

The Cocora Valley is most famous for the Quindio wax palm (Ceroxylon quindiuense), the national tree of Colombia.

It is considered the tallest palm species in the world and can reach an impressive height of up to 60 to 80 meters.

    These palms grow very
slowly and can live for over 300 years.

The name "Cocora" probably comes from a princess of the Quimbaya culture and translates to "Star of Water".
