The bridge is part of the Ruta de los Siete Puentes Colgantes (Route of the Seven Suspension Bridges).
The suspension bridge crosses the Quindío River. The entire circular route is about 10 to 12 kilometers long and takes an average of 3.5 to 5 hours.
The path leads through dense cloud forest and requires crossing several, partly swaying wooden bridges.
In addition to the wax palms, a detour to the Reserva Natural Acaime (House of the Hummingbirds) is worthwhile, where numerous hummingbird species can be observed.
