The Dortmund-Ems Canal Lock is the busiest lock on the Dortmund-Ems Canal (DEK). Between 15,000 and 20,000 ships pass through the twin locks with their two 190-meter-long chambers annually. The DEK connects the Rhine River Basin economic area with the economic areas to the east. The Münster Lock is one of the busiest locks in the German canal network.
