In the northern area of the Stadtberg, the first ruler's or ducal palace (stone building) was erected around 1100. When this also became dilapidated, the Ennsegg Castle was built instead. The newly renovated castle with its castle garden invites you to admire and relax. It was built in 1569/70 by the imperial councilor Dr. Gienger and expanded in the 17th century with Baroque additions.
After the Battle of Ebelsberg, Napoleon quartered himself in the castle. From there, he observed the reconstruction of the destroyed Enns bridge. Even today, this view is called the "Napoleonblick" (Napoleon's View).
