    Hiking

Legendary fellwalker Alfred Wainwright described Black Hill as a desolate and hopeless quagmire. Whilst it can be rather bleak here, especially if the weather’s bad, the remote landscape has a wonderfully-rugged charm. In clear conditions, you can see for miles around. Watch out for bogs, though, even during the hottest of summers.

    Hiking

Not that much of a boggy trip if you are on the Pennine Way otherwise it is. Black Hill is the old historic county top for Cheshire, a trig pointed summit and a UK designated Marilyn. A good one to do along with Black Chew Head, the county top for Greater Manchester and pick up another trig point at Hey Edge. See here for details: komoot.com/tour/383489718
