Hiking
The Kempen Canal – Dessel Schoten Canal was dug between 1844 and 1846. Inland shipping extended into the Northern Kempen region. Along the bank, where you can now enjoy recreational walking and mountain biking, there used to be a lane designated for boat towing. This hard work was carried out by humans or animals. The perfect combination was the horse and donkey. To make the hard work more bearable, trees were planted to provide shade above the towpath.
