Location and history: The Dautenfels natural monument in the vineyards on the right bank of the Neckar between Obertürkheim and Untertürkheim was left out during the leveling and mechanical utilization of the area as part of the vineyard clearing. The full name of the natural monument is "Geohistorical outcrop in the Stubensandstein Dautenfels". It was designated by the state capital of Stuttgart in 2003 and covers an area of 0.1 hectares. The protected area on the slope shows a beautiful rock face made of Stuben sandstone. There are hedges and trees in the area - quite in contrast to the tree-free surroundings. There are benches on two levels above and below the Stubensandsteinwand. From the natural monument you have a beautiful view of Stuttgart's upper Neckar suburbs in the Neckar valley and the surrounding heights.
