The gorges were created by the flow of water from the village of Murs, located upstream, in a depression created between two faults, and from the Apt basin, located downstream. The water has dug the gorge through the limestone of the Monts de Vaucluse plateau.

One of the most beautiful hikes in this corner of Provence. Take enough water with you .. even if you go through a gorge, it gets hot in sunny weather and there are no supplies on the way.

Super beautiful, varied gorge. Well marked with color signs. We only had 2 situations where we didn't know exactly where to go (due to a lack of markings).
Surefootedness is an advantage. There is a ladder, a rope-secured area with footholds and a few climbing spots on the rocks on the tour. The rocks can be slippery even when dry as they are sometimes very smooth, so hiking or trail shoes are a good idea.
We started early at 7 and had the whole gorge to ourselves (we only saw a salamander and a few birds)
