The so-called "Lüftlmalerei" characterizes the townscape of Oberammergau in Bavaria. This was mainly influenced by the local facade painter Franz Seraph Zwinck (1748 - 1792). He designed numerous house facades in Oberammergau and in the surrounding area. One of his most famous works is the Pilatushaus in Oberammergau. The house dates from the 18th century. It was given the name "Pilatushaus" thanks to the impressive painting by Franz Seraph Zwinck. The frescoes that can be admired on the garden side of the house represent a scene with Christ before the prefect Pontius Pilate.
