Today the chapel stands off the main road. This path, which is now only used for agriculture, used to run from Westheim to Elfershausen. Not far from the crossroads of Hammelburg-Elfershausen and Westheim-Feuerthal, this chapel is visible on a hill between chestnut trees. Today for many hikers a point to rest. The view sweeps over the landscape. Rest and inner contemplation are close together. Upon entering we can read the year 1754 above the door frame. Five benches inside invite you to linger. The sanctuary is separated from the rest of the room by a heavy lattice. The Mother of God stands in a hollowed-out tree stump. The picture is sometimes reminiscent of the pilgrimage site of Lourdes. A praying woman kneels at her feet. The age of the figures can no longer be determined. A simple cross hangs on the left side. It is the pilgrimage cross of the peace pilgrimage of the VDK under the direction of Alfons Zeier. Frederick. Schmelzer (Westheim, both are no longer with us) painted this, based on designs by Waldemar Gress. In the middle two hands symbolizing peace and friendship. From earlier stories, a saying that stood on the old, former door is still handed down!
